Repainting indicators: how to spot one in ten minutes

Repainting indicators change their past signals after the fact. On a live chart they look amazing in hindsight, with arrows sitting perfectly at the turning points. In real time, those arrows may appear late, move, or disappear.
The test is simple. Load the indicator on a live chart and take screenshots every few minutes. Compare the earlier screenshots to the current state of the chart. If signals that were visible before have vanished or moved, the indicator repaints.
Common culprits include zigzag-type indicators, some fractal and pivot tools, and any indicator that uses future bars to confirm a swing.
Not every repainting tool is dishonest. Some are meant for visual analysis, not for signals. The problem arises when they are used as if they predicted the market.
Another check is to look at how the indicator behaves on the very last bar. If it flickers while the bar is open and settles only at the close, it is sensitive to the current bar, and decisions made mid-bar might not match the final signal.
Which indicators have you caught repainting, and did you notice it before or after losing money?
