How do I identify and trade a London open liquidity grab?

Hi traders, scalpers,
To identify and trade the Judas Swing (the London open liquidity grab) purely off naked price action, you need to rely strictly on market structure and daily/weekly context. For a pure price action approach executed primarily on a mobile screen without complex indicators, keeping the chart hierarchy clean is critical.
The Judas Swing is essentially an algorithmic trap. The Asian session builds a tight consolidation box. Retail stop-losses accumulate above and below this box. When Frankfurt/London volume enters the market (07:00–08:00 UK time), institutional algorithms push the price out of the box in the opposite direction of the true daily trend to trigger those stops, secure deep liquidity, and then reverse.

Here is how to map and execute it directly from your phone using only structural levels.
1. Context is Everything (The H4/D1 Bias)
The Judas Swing only works if you know which direction the market actually wants to go. This is where your macro narrative comes in.
Before looking at the Asian range, use your H4 or D1 charts to identify the next major Support or Resistance zone.
Bullish Bias: If the D1 trend is up and the H4 is approaching a support zone or fair value gap, you are looking to buy.
Bearish Bias: If the macro structure is hitting a major H4 resistance block, you are looking to sell.
If you expect a bullish day, you want the London open to manipulate the price downwards. If you expect a bearish day, you want London to spike the price up.

2. Defining the Asian Box
You don't need an indicator for this; you just need to draw two horizontal lines on your M15 chart.
Find the high and low established between 00:00 and 06:00 UK time (during the Tokyo/Sydney overlap).
Mark the absolute high (wicks included) and absolute low of this period. This is your liquidity pool.

3. The Execution Trigger (M15 Rejection)
Between 07:00 and 09:00 UK time, wait for the manipulation. Do not place limit orders directly at the Asian boundaries—that is exactly what the algorithm is hunting.
The Sweep: Watch the price break out of the Asian box. If your H4 bias is bullish, wait for price to break below the Asian Low.
The Confirmation: You are waiting for an M15 candle to sweep that low, grab the liquidity, and immediately reject it. You want to see a strong M15 pin bar, a bullish engulfing candle, or a candle that closes firmly back inside the Asian range.
The Entry: Execute your trade at the market as soon as that M15 rejection candle closes back inside the range.

4. Risk and Targets
Stop Loss: Place your stop safely below the wick of the Judas Swing (the lowest point of the manipulation).
Take Profit: Your first target is the opposite side of the Asian box (the Asian High). Your secondary target is the structural H4 liquidity pool you identified in Step 1.
By filtering the M15 execution strictly through your higher timeframe bias, you avoid getting chopped up in random session volatility and only take the sweeps that align with the daily narrative.

Managing the Judas Swing breakout on a mobile device without indicators requires strict, mechanical adherence to M15 market structure. Once the price clears the opposite side of the Asian range, the goal shifts entirely from entry precision to capital protection.

1.Secure the Break-Even:
Lock in the spread upon breakout.
The moment an M15 candle closes firmly beyond the opposite boundary of the Asian Box, move your initial stop loss to break-even, plus enough points to cover the IC Markets spread. This completely de-risks the trade against a sudden reversal back into the consolidation zone.
2.Validate the M15 Swing Structure:
Let the M15 chart breathe. As price moves toward your macro target, it will form natural retracements. For a long trade, wait for price to retrace and then push up to break its previous local peak. This confirms a valid structural higher-low.

3.Trail the Stop Manually:
Avoid premature adjustments.
Once the new peak is broken, manually drag your stop loss just below the wick of that newly confirmed M15 swing low. Never move the stop during the retracement itself—only move it after the structure is validated by a break of the high.
4.Liquidate at the H4/D1 Target:
Respect the macro bias.
Do not trail indefinitely. With an execution model that risks 3 units to reward 1, the math requires locking in wins efficiently. Take the profit the moment price taps the major H4 or D1 support/resistance zone you identified before the session.

When applying this to highly volatile instruments like NAS100 or XAUUSD, allow slightly more breathing room below the M15 wicks compared to tighter pairs like EURUSD to avoid being stopped out by standard slippage or spread fluctuations.

XAUUSD and NAS100 do not just sweep liquidity—they hunt it aggressively across much wider ranges. Because these instruments have exceptionally high Average True Ranges (ATR), a standard tight stop that works perfectly on EURUSD will routinely get whipsawed on Gold or Nasdaq, leaving you right about the macro direction but stopped out of the trade.
When trading naked price action directly on a mobile screen, you have to adapt your M15 mechanics to absorb this inherent "noise" without blowing up your risk parameters.
