Server maintenance emails as hard flat events in the calendar

Brokers send maintenance notices regularly, usually for weekend or late-evening slots. They get skimmed and forgotten. Then a position is open when the server goes down, and stops can't be modified.
A habit that removes this risk entirely:
- Every maintenance email goes into the trading calendar as a hard event, same as a Tier 1 release.
- The event block starts 30 minutes before the stated window and ends 30 minutes after.
- Nothing open during that block, pending orders cancelled.
Why the buffer? Maintenance doesn't always start on time, and the period after a restart can have patchy prices, rejected orders and wide spreads while things settle.
Also worth checking: whether the broker keeps server-side stops active during maintenance. Some do, some don't, and the email rarely says.
A small point, but on the one night it matters, it can save a lot.
Has anyone been caught by a maintenance window with a position open? What happened to the stop?
