EURGBP tape read: two-sided trade after a stop run

EURGBP is a quiet cross, but it occasionally has a sharp stop run, usually on UK or eurozone data or a headline. After the run, it often enters a period of two-sided trade.

A typical example:

- Price ranges for an hour in a 6-pip box.
- UK data release: price drops 12 pips in 30 seconds, below the range and through obvious stops.
- Next 10 minutes: price bounces 6 pips, then drops 4, bounces 5, drops 3.
- After 20–30 minutes: price settles around the original range low.

The stop run took out stops. Now participants are evaluating whether the data justifies the move. Two-sided trade reflects that uncertainty.

Opportunities:
- Fading the extremes of the post-run range with small targets.
- Waiting for the range to break, which often happens back toward the original range if the data was not truly significant.

Risks:
- If the data was significant, a second leg in the same direction can follow.
- Spreads may stay wider than usual for a while.

Do you trade EURGBP after data? It's often overlooked, but can be cleaner than GBPUSD after UK releases.
