Broker marketing vs your own CSV: a public transparency challenge
Posted: Mon Oct 19, 2026 9:42 pm
Brokers publish average spreads, execution speeds and fill statistics. Traders publish their own experience. The two rarely match exactly, partly because the measurement methods differ.
A challenge for members: compare one marketing claim from your broker with your own data.
Examples:
- "Average EURUSD spread 0.1 pips": what's your median during your trading hours?
- "Execution in under 30 ms": what's your measured order-to-fill time?
- "No requotes": how many rejects/requotes in your journal?
Post your findings in this format:
- Claim (quote or paraphrase).
- Your data: period, number of trades, measurement method.
- Result.
Brokers can be named if your data is solid, but please keep it factual and avoid accusations without evidence.
Differences don't always mean dishonesty: averages are often taken over 24 hours, including quiet periods where spreads are tightest.
