Rules update emails: read them before trading the following week

Prop firms update rules regularly. The emails often arrive on a weekend, get skimmed, and the trader discovers the change only when something is flagged.
Common changes:
- News trading restrictions added or modified.
- Leverage reduced on certain instruments.
- New consistency rules.
- Changes to payout schedules.
- Changes to inactivity rules.
A habit worth building:
- When a rules email arrives, read it fully before the next trading session.
- Compare with the previous rules. What specifically changed?
- Check how it affects your strategy.
- Update your personal rulebook accordingly.
Also check:
- Do changes apply to existing accounts or only new ones?
- When do they take effect?
Archive all rules emails in a folder. If there's a dispute later, you'll have the exact version that applied.
Has a rule change ever caught you by surprise?
