Time-of-day restrictions at some firms: rewriting the session playbook

Some prop firms restrict trading at certain times: no trading in the first minutes of the session, around rollover, or within a window around news. For a London-session scalper, these restrictions may cut into prime time.

Common restrictions:
- No trades within 2–5 minutes of high-impact news.
- No positions held through rollover.
- No trading during specific hours on certain account types.

How to adapt the playbook:
1. List your usual trading windows.
2. Overlay the firm's restrictions.
3. Identify what's lost: which setups fall inside restricted times?
4. Decide: modify the setup (e.g. enter later), replace it, or accept fewer trades.

Example: if your best setup is the 08:00 UK open breakout and UK data comes out at 07:00 with a 5-minute restriction window, you're fine. But when German or eurozone data lands at 09:00 CET (08:00 UK), the window sits right on top of your setup.

Restrictions also affect closing: if a trade is open when a restricted window starts, does it need to be closed?

Has a firm's time restriction made you change a setup?
