Rehearsing a challenge's rules on your own account first
Before paying for a challenge, there's a cheap way to find out if you can live with its rules. Trade them on your own account for a few weeks first.
Take the exact rules of the challenge you're thinking about. Daily loss limit, maximum drawdown, any news restrictions, weekend rules, minimum trading days. Translate the percentages into your own account size. Then trade normally, but follow those rules as if a firm was watching.
You'll learn things quickly. Maybe the daily limit is fine but you keep wanting to trade the news window the firm bans. Maybe the drawdown rule makes you so cautious that you stop taking good setups. Maybe it all fits and you pass the rehearsal easily.
The value is that it costs only your normal trading risk, which you'd be taking anyway, and no challenge fee. If you can't follow the rules when the money at stake is your own normal size, you're unlikely to follow them better under the extra pressure of a paid attempt.
Use a demo if you don't trade live yet, but know that a demo makes the rules feel easier than they are.
Keep a log of every time you would have broken a rule. That list tells you more about whether to buy the challenge than any review of the firm.
