Taking the same setup again after it stops you out
You take a clean long at a level, it gets stopped, and five minutes later price is back sitting on the same level looking exactly like it did before. Do you take it again?
Plenty of traders have a flat rule against it, usually because they've seen re-entries turn into revenge trades. I understand the rule but I don't think it's right for every setup. The question to ask is whether the reason you entered is still true, or whether the stop out changed the picture.
If the stop came from a quick spike under the level with a fast recovery, the level arguably did its job. Someone swept the stops below it and the buyers came back. That can actually be a better entry than the first one, because the obvious liquidity is gone.
If the stop came from a slow grind through the level with candles closing below it, the picture changed. Price accepted below. Coming back up to it is now a retest from the other side, and the original idea is dead.
So I'd write down two things before the session. How many times you're allowed to re-enter the same idea, and what has to have happened for a re-entry to count. One re-entry after a sweep and recovery is a defined rule. Clicking buy again because you're annoyed is not.
