What the prop firm dashboard doesn't show you
Prop firm dashboards show the basics: balance, equity, drawdown remaining, daily loss remaining, profit target progress, trading days. That covers the rules. It doesn't cover a lot of what you need to trade well.
It usually doesn't show your average R per trade, win rate by setup, or performance by session. It doesn't show how close you came to the daily limit on your worst days, which matters more than the current day. It doesn't show trade duration, which matters if the firm has rules on very short trades. And the update speed varies. Some dashboards lag behind the platform, so the drawdown figure you see might be out of date in a fast market.
That's why I keep my own records alongside the dashboard. A simple spreadsheet with each trade, the R result, the setup, and the session. Plus a daily line with the lowest equity reached that day, so I know how close I've been to the daily limit.
The dashboard is good for checking rules. Your own journal is better for understanding your trading.
I'd also not rely on the dashboard for the exact daily loss remaining during a trade. Calculate it yourself from the platform's equity, which is live, and leave some buffer.
