Recording a quick voice note right after each trade instead of typing

typing notes after every trade was a drag, and I'd often skip it. So I tried recording a short voice note on my phone right after each trade closes, about twenty or thirty seconds, saying what I saw, why I took it, and how I feel about it.

It's much faster than typing and I tend to be more honest when speaking. I say things like "I rushed that one" or "that was a clean setup, it just didn't work". Those are thoughts I wouldn't bother to type. The emotional state also shows up in my voice, which I can pick up on when I listen back.

Once a week, I listen to the notes while doing something else, and I pick out the patterns. A few themes came up repeatedly: frustration after a certain type of loss, and overconfidence after a couple of wins. I wouldn't have noticed them from numbers alone.

I name the files with the date and time, and I keep them in a folder. I delete the old ones after I've reviewed them, so it doesn't become a pile. It takes little effort and gives me a good record.

I tried voice notes too, and the honesty part is real. I say things out loud that I would never type, like I knew it was a bad trade before I clicked. One thing that made it work better was asking myself the same three questions every time: what did I see, did it match my rules, and how do I feel. That keeps the notes short and consistent, so when I listen back they are easy to compare. Short and repeatable beats long and occasional.

One addition that worked for me was transcribing them automatically. My phone can turn the recording into text, so I get the speed of speaking and still have something I can search. Once a month I search for words like rushed or bored and count how often they come up. It is a rough measure, but it shows whether my mental state is getting better or worse over time, which the numbers alone do not tell me. It also means I actually keep doing it, which matters more than anything.

Hi Farman,

good idea, but on another hand, its harder to search in such data.
And time to time i have day, when i will make like 500 trades/scalps and this would be too much recording :D :D
