Quiet Tuesday on GBPUSD, one setup only and an early finish

nothing on the calendar today, no big speakers, and cable has been drifting in a tight range since Asia. These days tempt me to overtrade because nothing is happening and I get bored. So I'm limiting myself to one setup only.

The setup is the break and retest of the London first hour range on M5. That's it. No inside bars, no trendlines, no ideas that pop up halfway through. If the range breaks and retests cleanly, I take it. If not, no trade.

Time limit: I'm done by about 10:30 GMT. After that it's likely to be a grind, and I don't have a reason to be in front of the screen. I'd rather go and do something else than make marginal trades out of boredom.

Risk is the normal amount, but I'm only allowing two attempts. I'll post here if something happens and also if nothing does, so you can see what a no trade morning looks like.

Why I picked that particular setup for a quiet day. On slow mornings the first hour range is usually narrow, so if it breaks and retests, the stop is small and the risk is easy to control. Other setups need more movement to work, and on days like this they mostly fail. Limiting myself to the one that suits slow conditions means I am not trying to squeeze a trend trade out of a market that is barely moving. Quiet days reward doing less, not more.

The two attempts limit is mostly there to stop me from turning a quiet day into a bad one. If the first attempt fails and the second fails too, the market is telling me there is nothing there. I used to keep going on days like this, taking smaller and smaller ideas, and end up worse than if I had stopped early. Writing the limit down before the session makes it a lot easier to stick to when boredom kicks in.
