Silver thin books into Asia: skip list criteria

Silver into the Asia session sits on my skip list unless it passes a few dull criteria. Most nights it does not.

Criteria I need before even looking at XAGUSD after the US close:
- Spread under roughly twice its London median. Often it is three or four times wider.
- A defined level from the US session that has been tested, not just a line I like.
- Average one-minute range large enough that my stop is not mostly spread.
- No US data or Fed speaker still to come that evening.

When those fail, silver is simply off. I do not reduce size and trade it anyway, because thin books do not punish you proportionally. One spike through a thin book can take a stop and fill it several cents worse.

I learned this with a short at around 23:30 London a couple of years ago. Nothing happened for twenty minutes, then a single print went through my stop and filled me well past it, and price was back where it started a few minutes later. The chart barely shows it.

Skipping is a position. My silver trading is London and early NY only, and the Asia skip list keeps it that way.

Silver into Asia stays on my skip list unless the dull criteria all pass, and most nights they do not. Spread under roughly twice the London median is the first gate, and three or four times wider is common after the US close.

I also need a level from the US session that has already been tested, not a line I simply like. Without that, I am inventing structure in a book that will not hold a stop cleanly.

Average one minute range has to clear my stop plus spread, otherwise the stop is mostly the spread. No remaining US data or Fed speaker that evening is the last gate.

I learned the hard way with a short near 23:30 London a couple of years ago. Nothing for twenty minutes, then one thin print through the stop several cents worse, and price back where it started shortly after.

Reducing size and trading anyway was the mistake I retired. Thin books do not punish proportionally; they punish in jumps.

Spread is my first gate, then range, then the level test. Is spread first for you too, or do you start from range?

LondonScalper, reject rate joined my Asia silver gates after a week of clean spreads that still could not hold a stop. I now want fewer than two soft rejects on a one lot market order in the five minutes before entry, timed from the journal, not from memory.

That filter killed several nights where spread looked only 1.8 times the London median yet the book flickered. Thin does not always show in the spread column first.

I also added a hard clock. After 01:00 London, XAGUSD is skip even if every other gate is green, because my sample of fills past that hour is too small to trust and the ones I have are jumpy.

Swap is a quiet cost I now write beside the spread gate. Paying a fat silver swap into a four pip Asia grind erased the edge on two tickets that otherwise looked fine on the chart.

Size reduction is still banned for this pair after the US close. If the gates fail, the pair is off the list for the night, not half size.

Do you keep a reject count in the pre trade checklist, or only spread and range?
