News trading bans on prop: how to stay consistent with your edge

If your edge is post-news reversion and the firm bans news trading, you do not "adapt" by sneaking. You shelve that edge for the challenge and run the part of your playbook that lives in clean London hours.
Consistency means: same pairs, same session window, same stop math, minus the banned hour. I write a reduced playbook before the challenge starts so I am not inventing substitutes mid-drawdown. Usually that means open-drive and mid-morning continuation only, with a lower ticket count target.
What is not consistency: swapping to a new pair you barely trade because "it moved after the print", or doubling size on the allowed hour to "make up" for banned windows. The ban is a feature of the path. Price it in when you choose the firm and the phase length, not after you are already tilted.
I also cut expectancy targets for the phase to match the reduced playbook. Hoping to hit personal-capital monthly R without news edges is how people force trades into the banned window.
