Why I chose personal capital plus IB rebates over prop path in a scalping context

This is preference with maths, not a sermon against prop.
My scalp frequency and news habits fit personal capital better some quarters: I can take a second-tier half-size ticket that a given firm would ban, and IB rebates on raw volume nudge all-in cost down in a way that matters at high ticket counts. Prop shines when I want forced path discipline and defined loss. I use both across a year, but when I choose personal-plus-rebate as the main book it is because the edge is volume-sensitive and calendar-flexible.
The honest tradeoff: personal capital asks you to enforce limits yourself. Prop enforces them for you and charges for the path. For M1 EURUSD with many small decisions, I sometimes prefer paying myself to obey via rebates and a written soft stop rather than negotiating with a phase clock. Other months I want the clock. The choice is situational, and I write which book is primary before the month starts. None of this means prop is "worse". It means the product fits some months and not others. I schedule which primary book I am on before the month begins so I am not flipping identity mid-drawdown.
