EURUSD at Asia session: dead tape stand-aside rules

Asia EURUSD is often a fee farm for London scalpers who cannot sleep. My rule is stand-aside when the tape is dead — not “micro-scalp for entertainment” because the chart is open and the coffee is poured.

Dead-tape definition I use, written so I cannot renegotiate at 02:00:
  • Overnight range compressed beyond a threshold I set in advance.
  • Spread sticky relative to my London norms for the same pair.
  • No scheduled data that could justify a planned event trade.
If those line up, I do not negotiate. Charts can stay open for levels and for tomorrow’s prep; the order ticket stays closed. Sleep is also a position.

How do you define dead Asia tape on EURUSD — range width, time-of-day, spread regime, or something stricter?

When I break the dead-tape rule, it almost always shows up as a boredom tag the next morning. That feedback loop is why the definition stays written: shame is a weak control; a clear rule is stronger.
