Beating boredom trades as a scalper: rules that stuck

Boredom trades — the rules that finally stuck

Most of my dumb London clicks were not FOMO. They were boredom: quiet tape, spread fine, brain hungry for action. Scalping rewards activity bias, so I had to make inactivity feel like legitimate work rather than laziness.

What stuck for me after years of half-measures:
  • A written minimum tape condition before any order is allowed — if Asia range is dead and London has not printed a clear impulse, I am flat by design.
  • A click budget for the first ninety minutes. When it hits zero, the mouse is done even if the chart looks “almost.”
  • Tagging boredom in the journal the same way I tag setup quality. Seeing the tag cluster cured more than lectures ever did.
Boredom is not a signal. It is a state. Treat it like a red spread: stand aside without negotiation. The ironic result is that my busy hours became cleaner because I stopped spending emotional capital on dead tape.

What boredom rule actually stuck for you — click budget, session shut-off, or something more personal that survives a quiet Tuesday?
