Monday only: opening range break on EURUSD

Mondays are a different animal. I stopped treating them like a normal London ORB day.

Liquidity is often thinner, weekend gaps get digested, and the first break of the open range can be a trap designed for people who need something to do at 08:00. So I constrained the setup: EURUSD ORB is Monday-only when I run it at all, with half size, and only if Sunday night / Asia did not already dump a huge range.

Rule: if the Monday ORB break lacks a retest within a short window, I cancel — no chasing into the London lunch dead zone. If the first half-hour is overlapping M5 bars with sticky spreads, the Monday ORB card is simply closed; I will not invent a breakout from boredom.

This sounds restrictive because it is. The journal preferred fewer Monday trades to a stack of scratches that ruined the week’s mindset.
  • Do you trade Monday ORB at all?
  • Same rules as mid-week, or a separate playbook card?
Curious whether others found Monday ORB worth keeping or quietly retired it.
