Apple preorder Saturday — 18 Pro live, Duo not yet; FX still doesn’t care about the camera

Sat 12 Sep: iPhone 18 Pro / Pro Max preorders opened (US ~05:00 PT). US coverage: no instant sell-out, launch-week delivery still showing for many configs an hour in — unusual versus prior Pro cycles. Apple moved the window to Saturday (avoiding 9/11). Duo is not in this preorder: Oct 16 / on-sale Oct 23, from $1,999.

Taiwan carrier tape is the opposite colour: Chunghwa / Taiwan Mobile saying 18 Pro + Duo allocations gone in ~2 minutes. Same product, different inventory story. Don’t glue that to EURUSD.

Scalper use
Mega-cap theatre. Unless your USD book actually widens, this is equity narrative. Sell-the-news in AAPL is a stock pattern. Mixing “I like the phones” with a dollar ticket is how hobby and process get tangled.

Sources: AppleInsider / Focus Taiwan 12 Sep 2026; Apple event 9 Sep. Not advice.

Anyone see real USD spread expansion around the 05:00 PT cart open, or a nothing-burger?

Hi LondonScalper,

"It’s a complete nothing-burger—first and foremost because preorders opened on a Saturday morning (05:00 PT / 08:00 ET). Interbank G10 FX (EBS, Refinitiv, CME futures) is hard closed from Friday 17:00 ET until Sunday evening.

Anyone seeing 'spread expansion' was looking at synthetic, off-market retail broker pricing designed to penalize weekend punters, not genuine institutional USD liquidity.

Even on a Tuesday, consumer cart authorizations don't touch spot FX. Apple’s supply-chain FX risk is hedged quarters in advance via corporate treasury programs, and retail receipts settle in local fiat through merchant acquirers. As the note itself nailed: it's pure equity narrative (and at best a single-stock / supplier theta trade), not a macro dollar ticket."
