MYTHS THAT ARE QUIETLY WRECKING YOUR ACCOUNT

"More Trades = More Money" Is the Lie That's Bankrupting You
Everyone starts here.
More screen time, more clicks, more trades, more money. It sounds like basic math.
It isn't.
Every extra trade you take is another spread paid, another commission charged, another chance for a mediocre setup to masquerade as a good one.
The traders quietly compounding gains aren't the ones trading the most. They're the ones trading the least amount necessary to execute their edge.
Count your trades this week. Now count how many of them you'd defend in front of a room of professional traders.
That gap is where your account is bleeding.

The Indicator You're Using Was Never Meant to Predict Anything
Here's an uncomfortable truth about RSI, MACD, and stochastic.
They're lagging. All of them. Every single one is built from past price, describing what already happened.
You are not using a crystal ball. You are using a rearview mirror and calling it a windshield.
That doesn't make indicators useless — it makes them confirmation tools, not prediction tools.
The moment you start entering because "RSI says oversold" without checking what price is actually doing right now, you've handed your decision-making to a math formula built on old data.
Use indicators to confirm what price is already telling you. Never to override it.

"I'll Just Trade Bigger Once I'm Confident" Has Ended More Careers Than Bad Strategies
This is the sentence traders tell themselves right before the blowup.
Confidence isn't a risk management system. It's a feeling. Feelings don't scale position size safely — math does.
The traders who survive long enough to trade meaningful size didn't wait for confidence.
They waited for a statistically significant sample of trades proving the edge was real, then scaled size according to a plan written weeks in advance.
If your plan to increase risk is "when it feels right," you don't have a plan.
You have a countdown timer to a bad week.

Scalping Isn't Fast Trading. It's Fast Execution of Slow Decisions
There's a version of scalping everyone imagines: rapid-fire clicking, gut reactions, split-second everything.
That version blows accounts.
The actual skill isn't speed of decision. It's speed of execution once a decision — made calmly, according to a plan — has already been reached.
The decision about what qualifies as a valid setup happens long before you're staring at a live chart. It happens in your trading plan, written when you were calm.
What happens live is just execution. Fast hands, slow brain, in that order.

The "Holy Grail Strategy" You're Searching For Doesn't Exist — And Searching for It Is the Real Problem
There's always a new indicator combo. A new mentor's "secret" setup. A new course promising the missing piece.
None of it is the missing piece.
The traders who quietly make consistent money aren't running a superior strategy nobody else has discovered.
They're running a mediocre-to-decent strategy with genuinely excellent risk management, applied with boring, repetitive consistency for years.
Stop hunting for the strategy that will finally work.
Start executing the one you already have, properly, for long enough to know if it actually does.

"I Backtested It and It Works" — On What Data, Exactly?
Backtesting on the last three trending months and calling it validated is a trap almost every trader falls into once.
A strategy that crushes it during a strong trend can fall apart completely during a choppy, range-bound stretch — and vice versa.
Real backtesting spans multiple market regimes. Trending. Ranging. High volatility. Low volatility. Different sessions.
If your backtest only covers conditions similar to right now, you haven't tested a strategy.
You've tested how well your strategy performs in exactly the conditions you happened to pick.

Tight Stops Don't Mean Low Risk. They Mean Frequent, Small Losses.
There's a comforting myth that a 3-pip stop is "safer" than a 15-pip stop.
It isn't inherently safer. It just fails more often.
Tight stops get clipped by completely normal market noise, over and over, chipping away at the account through sheer frequency even when your directional read was actually correct.
Real risk isn't about stop distance in isolation. It's about the relationship between stop distance, position size, and how often that stop actually gets hit for reasons unrelated to your thesis being wrong.
A wider, structurally sound stop with proper position sizing often outperforms a tight stop that gets stopped out by breathing room the market needed.

You Don't Need to Predict the Market. You Need to React to It Correctly.
New scalpers spend enormous energy trying to predict exactly where price is going next.
Professional traders spend their energy building a process that reacts well no matter what price does next.
This distinction changes everything about how you should be spending your study time.
Stop trying to become a better predictor. Nobody is a consistently good predictor of short-term price movement — not you, not the guy on YouTube with 500k subscribers.
Become a better reactor. Build rules for what you do when price confirms your setup, and what you do when it doesn't. That's the actual skill.

The Market Doesn't Know You Exist. Stop Trading Like It's Personal.
"The market took out my stop right before reversing" is a sentence that reveals a dangerous mental model.
The market isn't targeting you. It has no idea your stop exists.
Price moves based on aggregate order flow from millions of participants, none of whom are thinking about your individual position.
When you frame losses as the market "getting" you personally, you start making decisions aimed at outsmarting an opponent that isn't actually paying attention to you.
Trade the probabilities. Leave the personal narrative out of it entirely.

Winning Traders Aren't Right More Often. They Lose Smaller and Win Bigger.
Somewhere along the way, "win rate" became the metric everyone obsesses over.
It's not the metric that matters most.
Plenty of profitable traders win less than half their trades. Plenty of unprofitable traders win more than 70% of theirs.
What actually separates them is what happens on the losses versus what happens on the wins.
Small, controlled losses. Larger, well-managed wins. That ratio is the actual engine of profitability — not how often you're technically correct.
