Edmond Dantès stood by the floor-to-ceiling glass, holding a Villeroy & Boch cup of Gyokuro Yutaka tea. He did not turn around immediately. He simply watched the Parisian rain streak against the reinforced glass.

"You engineered the crash," Albert’s voice cracked, echoing harshly in the minimalist space. He threw a stack of printed server logs onto the glass table. "My analysts spent all night tracing the JSON payload that hit the Reuters and Bloomberg API gateways. The cryptographic signature was spoofed, but the routing hash bounced through a decentralized dark pool node in Geneva. A node registered to Monte Cristo Capital."

Edmond slowly turned. He placed the porcelain cup on the table, his expression a mask of absolute, frictionless zero.

"Baron Danglars provided you with that routing data, didn't he?" Edmond stated. It wasn't a question. "He analyzed the API traffic on his clearinghouse, recognized the volume, and fed you the telemetry to insulate himself."

"It doesn't matter who gave me the data!" Albert shouted, stepping forward, his fists clenched. "You orchestrated a 'short and distort' campaign! You fabricated a decentralized ledger to trigger an algorithmic panic, and you aggressively shorted my father's equity at the exact millisecond the circuit breakers tripped. You used the Yanina proxy war as a synthetic narrative to wipe out a ten-billion-euro market cap in twelve seconds!"

"I did not fabricate the ledger, Albert," Edmond said softly, his resonant voice absorbing the boy's panic like a massive institutional buy-wall. "The blockchain is immutable. The SWIFT routing data from fourteen years ago is mathematically pristine. I merely provided the market with the transparency your father spent a decade trying to suppress."

"My father is a patriot!" Albert roared, the psychological dissonance tearing him apart. "He built Morcerf Defense Solutions from the ground up! He did not sell out the Yanina grid! He did not take blood money!"

Edmond looked at the boy. He saw the exact same blind, desperate loyalty that had once anchored a nineteen-year-old sailor in Marseille to a world that didn't exist. Albert was defending a phantom. He was clinging to a balance sheet that was entirely fraudulent.

"The market does not care about your familial loyalty, Albert," Edmond replied coldly. "It only cares about the underlying data. Your father’s equity is zero because his corporate architecture was built on treason. The SEC will freeze his remaining assets by midnight. Chairman Villefort has already drafted the subpoenas."

Albert stopped pacing. He stared at the Count, the frantic energy suddenly crystallizing into a cold, lethal focus. The boy who had traded the 1-minute charts was gone, replaced by a desperate heir willing to leverage his own life to defend his family's name.

"I am the CEO of the Morcerf family fund now," Albert said, his voice dropping to a rigid, trembling whisper. "And I am issuing a public challenge. Tomorrow morning, at eight AM, I am anchoring a live broadcast on Bloomberg Europe. I have compiled a counter-dossier on Monte Cristo Capital. I am going to expose your decentralized network, your offshore shell companies, and the algorithmic market manipulation you used to orchestrate this attack."

Edmond’s gray eyes locked onto Albert. This was the equivalent of a duel. In the 19th century, it would have been pistols at dawn in the Bois de Boulogne. Today, it was a televised activist short report, designed to trigger a reputational and financial liquidation on live television.

"If you launch a public short report against me," Edmond warned quietly, "the high-frequency bots will target my liquidity pools. It will trigger a massive drawdown on my portfolio."

"Then hedge your positions, Count," Albert spat, turning toward the heavy oak doors. "Because tomorrow morning, I am going to margin-call your entire existence."

Albert stormed out, the heavy doors slamming shut behind him, leaving a vibrating acoustic echo in the silent penthouse.

Ali stepped out from the server room, his face grim. He typed rapidly on his encrypted tablet, projecting the text onto the 85-inch Sony BRAVIA display. If he drops a fabricated dossier on Bloomberg, the algorithmic panic will cost us billions in unrealized equity before we can verify the truth. We must deploy the defensive algorithms. We must front-run his broadcast.

Edmond looked at the Sony display, then back at the rain lashing against the window. He thought of Mercédès. He thought of the agonizing terror in her eyes at the gala, and the absolute certainty that the boy who had just challenged him to a financial death match was entirely innocent of his father's sins.

"No, Ali," Edmond commanded, his voice heavy with a profound, terrifying calm. "Disable all defensive algorithms. Uncouple the IC Markets API. Leave the portfolio completely unhedged."

Ali froze, his fingers hovering over the mechanical keyboard.

"Let him execute the broadcast," Edmond whispered, honoring the ultimate stop-loss of his own humanity. "If the boy wants to strike, I will absorb the blow."
