Elias didn't argue. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the matte-black obsidian block.
In the dim, red emergency lighting of the forward hold, the Genesis Node looked like a void—a piece of space where light simply ceased to exist.
Elias pressed his scarred right palm against the smooth glass.
The node instantly woke. A blinding, perfect ring of golden light ignited around its edge, and the ancient, base-12 geometric holograms projected into the humid air of the hold, casting brilliant, cascading code across Gideon’s face.

Gideon’s eyes widened, the absolute, unshakable stoicism of the tactical chief finally breaking. He stared at the golden light, recognizing the ultimate authority of the Order.
"The mantle passed," Gideon whispered, his voice thick with a sudden, profound reverence.
"I am the Ledger," Elias said, stepping closer to the chained giant. "Alistair traded the spread, Gideon. He managed the decline. I am a quant. I trade the void. I don't care about the politics of the Malta command, and I don't care about your ideology. I care about the math. And the math says De Molay is massively over-leveraged, isolated, and bleeding."
Elias crouched down, bringing the glowing Genesis Node eye-level with the traitor.

"I can execute you right now for treason," Elias said coldly. "Or, you can tell me the exact architectural fail-safes of the Malta server farm, and you can help me liquidate the man who sent Hashashin mercenaries to murder your Grand Master."
Gideon looked at the golden cipher hovering in the air, then at the young, blood-stained analyst holding it. The tactical chief slowly bowed his head, resting his chin against his massive chest.
"Commander de Molay operates the Malta servers through a closed-loop fiber optic network," Gideon rumbled, his voice echoing in the hold. "When Alistair severed the terrestrial trunks in the Alps, De Molay fell back on localized satellite uplinks. But the Malta bunker is heavily shielded. To maintain zero-latency execution, his satellite arrays are entirely dependent on a primary routing hub located on the roof of the fortress. It is a physical bottleneck."

Elias’s mind raced, perfectly visualizing the network topology. "If we choke that bottleneck, we choke Baphomet’s access to the global exchanges."
"You cannot choke it with code," Gideon said, looking up. "It is air-gapped from external DDOS attacks. It requires a kinetic strike. A physical disruption."
Elias stood up, the golden light of the Node illuminating the dark corners of his mind where the Holy Grail equation resided.
"I don't need a kinetic strike to break Baphomet," Elias said, a terrifying new strategy forming. "I just need to overwhelm it. Baphomet is a deterministic AI. It calculates risk based on rational institutional behavior. If I flood Malta's remaining bandwidth with absolute, localized chaos—millions of irrational, highly leveraged micro-trades simultaneously attacking every asset class they hold—the AI will freeze trying to calculate the variables."

"We do not possess the proxy nodes to simulate that level of decentralized chaos," Gideon pointed out. "Our exiled network is too small."
"We don't," Elias agreed, walking toward the heavy steel door of the hold. "But the Guild of Assassins does."
Gideon stared at him, genuine shock registering on his scarred face. "You burned their Dubai farm to the ground. You stole their capital. The Hashashin will not ally with you. They will skin you alive."
"Tariq is dead, and the Dubai node is ashes," Elias said, gripping the handle of the door. "But the Hashashin swarm is a Hydra. They are decentralized. They have thousands of surviving quants operating in the dark web who just watched their supreme leader get mathematically annihilated by a single rogue variable. They are terrified, they are bleeding, and they are looking for a new architect."

Elias locked the hold behind him, leaving Gideon in the dark.
He climbed the stairs to the Kyrie’s main server room. He placed the Genesis Node onto the central console and wired it directly into the ship’s encrypted satellite uplink. The crude, liquid-cooled laptops flickered, their operating systems instantly overridden by the base-12 Templar architecture.
Elias unzipped the duffel bag, pulling out one of the titanium hardware wallets. He plugged it in. The screen flashed: BALANCE: 42,000 BTC. UNSPENT TRANSACTION OUTPUTS VERIFIED.

He had the authority. He had the ultimate equation. He had the capital.
Elias pulled up a secure, heavily encrypted Tor browser, bypassing standard internet protocols and diving deep into the unregulated, subterranean layers of the dark web. He began writing a broadcast script, embedding a microscopic fragment of the Holy Grail equation into the code as cryptographic proof of identity.

He was going to send a beacon into the void, calling every surviving algorithmic terrorist on the planet to a virtual parlay. He was going to offer the Guild of Assassins a choice: burn with De Molay’s collapsing fiat empire, or join the new Grand Master and short it to the ground.
Elias hit Execute. The beacon went out into the dark. Now, the Rogue Knight waited for the monsters to answer.

Chapter 29: The Deep Web Alliance
The terminal remained absolute black for exactly forty-seven minutes. Elias Vance sat motionless in the sweltering server room of the Kyrie, the rhythmic, heavy roll of the Mediterranean swells testing the stabilizers of the decommissioned trawler. On the console before him, the Genesis Node pulsed with a slow, steady golden heartbeat, illuminating the exhaustion carved deep into his face.
He had cast a cryptographic beacon into the darkest, most heavily encrypted trenches of the Tor network, baiting the hook with a fractured string of the Holy Grail equation. To anyone else, it looked like corrupted data. To the surviving quants of the Guild of Assassins, it was the mathematical equivalent of blood in the water.

At the forty-eighth minute, the packet sniffer on Elias’s secondary monitor flatlined.
The ship’s standard telemetry didn't just drop; it was forcibly suppressed. A massive, coordinated influx of encrypted routing requests began hammering the Kyrie’s satellite uplink. They weren't trying to breach the firewall—they were building a decentralized, peer-to-peer tunnel, wrapping the connection in so many layers of onion-routing that the geographic origin of the signal was mathematically impossible to trace.
On his primary display, the command-line interface wiped itself clean.
