Alistair lowered his weapon, his silver eyes reflecting the newly replenished capital on the screens. He looked at Elias, the sheer magnitude of the young quant’s tactical brilliance settling over the room.

"You turned his wiretap into a noose," Alistair said softly.

"He won't trust the telemetry anymore," Elias said, leaning back in his chair, rubbing his bloodshot eyes. "He’ll sever the connection on his end. The leak is plugged."

Gideon took his hand off the biometric scanner. The towering tactical chief looked at the screens, realizing he was now a completely burned asset. He had no value to De Molay, and he was trapped in a steel box with a Grand Master he had just tried to assassinate.

"De Molay is a zealot, Alistair," Gideon said, his voice entirely devoid of panic, resonating with the grim acceptance of a soldier who knows the war is lost. "You bleed his capital, but you cannot kill his ideology. He will not stop until the cathedral falls."

Alistair walked slowly toward Gideon. He didn't raise the gun. He simply looked up at the giant who had guarded his life for twenty years.

"Set a course for Monaco," Alistair commanded the empty room, his voice echoing coldly against the steel bulkheads. "We require physical assets to finish this. And lock this traitor in the forward hold."

Elias watched as Alistair turned his back, the Grand Master’s posture rigid with the heavy, isolating burden of command. The algorithmic skirmishes were over. They were sailing straight back into the physical world, where stop-losses were measured in blood.

26: The Fall of Alistair

The rusted, salt-stained hull of the Kyrie was a jagged scar against the billion-dollar backdrop of Port Hercules. As dusk settled over the Principality of Monaco, the harbor transformed into a glowing amphitheater of extreme, unregulated wealth. Sleek superyachts the size of destroyers sat at anchor, their decks illuminated by ambient LEDs, hosting parties funded by the exact fiat hallucination Elias had spent the last forty-eight hours defending.

Alistair stood at the bow of the trawler, looking up at the tiered, illuminated cliffs of Monte Carlo. The Grand Master had shed his wool fisherman’s sweater. From the ship’s small armory, he had produced a pristine, charcoal-grey bespoke suit that fit him like armor. He checked the action of a compact Walther PPS, sliding it smoothly into his shoulder holster.

"De Molay holds the mountain, and by extension, the central banking infrastructure of the Order," Alistair said, his voice clipped and entirely focused. "But algorithmic capital is only one side of the Ledger. To wage a prolonged war against a rogue AI, we need absolute, untraceable liquidity. We need the offline reserves."

Elias stood beside him, wearing a dark tactical jacket over his ruined linen suit, his suppressed 9mm heavy against his ribs. "Bearer bonds?"

"Gold, Elias. And cold-storage hardware wallets containing thousands of original, un-forked Bitcoin blocks mined in 2010," Alistair corrected. "Stored in a private vault deep beneath the Casino de Monte-Carlo, accessible only by the physical biometric presence of the Grand Master."

The Kyrie docked at a secondary commercial pier, far from the gleaming mega-yachts. Alistair and Elias disembarked, leaving the captive Gideon chained to the primary structural stanchion in the forward hold.

They bypassed the glamorous main entrances of the casino, navigating the steep, winding alleyways of the principality until they reached a nondescript, reinforced steel door set into the foundation of a 19th-century retaining wall.

Alistair pressed his hand to a hidden capacitive scanner. The heavy door clicked open, revealing a private elevator lined in polished mahogany and brass. They stepped inside, and the car plummeted smoothly into the bedrock.

"When we secure the cold storage, we purchase our own decentralized server farm," Alistair outlined the strategy as they descended. "We upload the Grail of Liquidity, isolate Baphomet’s routing nodes, and systematically short De Molay’s exposure into oblivion."

The elevator chimed. The doors slid open to reveal a sprawling, pristine subterranean vault lined with polished white marble and hundreds of polished titanium safe-deposit boxes. A single, impeccably dressed Swiss vault manager stood at a reception desk, looking terrified.

He wasn't terrified of Alistair.

He was terrified of the four men standing in the center of the marble floor, their suppressed submachine guns already raised.

They didn't wear the tactical gear of the Malta faction. They wore sleek, matte-grey suits designed to absorb light and sound.

"The Hashashin," Elias breathed, his hand darting toward his jacket.

"Tariq’s surviving wolves," Alistair said, his voice entirely devoid of surprise. "De Molay has hired the remnants of the swarm."

The physical margin call had arrived. De Molay hadn't needed telemetry to find them; Baphomet had simply calculated the only logical destination for an exiled Grand Master seeking off-ledger liquidity.

The vault erupted into blinding, deafening violence.

Elias threw himself to the left, diving behind a massive, solid marble pillar as a burst of suppressed 9mm rounds shattered the stone where he had just been standing. Marble shrapnel exploded into the air, stinging his face and hands like hornets.

He drew his weapon, blind-firing two shots around the pillar. He wasn't a tier-one operator; he was a quant. He didn't have the muscle memory for kinetic warfare, but he understood geometry, angles, and latency.

Alistair, however, moved with the terrifying, fluid precision of a man who had survived a century of shadow wars.

The Grand Master didn't dive for cover. He stepped diagonally into the line of fire, utilizing the fractional latency of human reaction time. He raised the Walther PPS and fired twice in rapid succession. The double-tap was flawless, catching the lead Hashashin operative perfectly in the sternum.

The operative crumpled to the polished floor, his blood spreading like spilled ink across the white marble.
