A cent account holds a balance in cents, so a deposit of 100 dollars shows as 10,000 units. Trades are small, with a standard lot representing a thousand units of the base currency. The point isn't the size. It's that real orders go through real execution at a trivial cost.

For a scalper evaluating a new broker or platform, that's useful. Demo accounts often behave differently from live ones, with better fills and no last look. A cent account gives a real fill on real liquidity without risking much.

What can be tested includes: fill latency, slippage distribution, spread behaviour at different times, requote frequency, and how the broker treats stops during news.

The caveat is that some brokers route cent accounts differently from standard accounts, with wider spreads or different execution. Results may not carry over perfectly to a larger account, so testing on the intended account type is better when possible.

Even so, a week of logging on a small live account reveals more than a month of demo.

Has a cent or micro account been used to test a broker, and did the results match later experience on a bigger account?
