What to do on a day when nothing sets up

Post by FXS London Scalper »

Some mornings bring no valid setups. That's normal, and handling those days well is part of the strategy.

Common mistakes on such days:
  • Lowering standards after an hour of waiting.
  • Switching to an unfamiliar pair or timeframe.
  • Trading out of boredom just before stopping.
A plan for quiet mornings:
  • Set a time, for example 10:30 London, after which no new setups are considered if nothing came.
  • Use the time for review: last week's trades, screenshots, journal notes.
  • Write "no trade day" in the journal. It's a valid result.
How to evaluate: tag days with no setup by 10:00 and see whether trades taken later on those days do worse. If they do, a cut-off time is worth it.

A zero-trade day costs nothing. A forced trade on a quiet day often costs more than a normal loss.

Over time, those review sessions often turn into the most useful hours of the week, because they happen without the pressure of an open position.
